The Roles

Senior Planning Officer

The City’s Development Services Business Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Officer to provide a supervisory role within the team. Reporting to the Coordinator Planning Approvals, the Senior Planning Officer takes responsibility for all aspects of work associated with the processing of various statutory planning correspondence, enquiries, proposals and decisions within the Business Unit’s area of responsibility. 

This position is also responsible for the day to day supervision of a small team of Planning Officers including monitoring performance, coaching and mentoring.

To be considered for this role, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in Town Planning, or a related discipline.
  • High level of knowledge and understanding of Western Australian Local Government statutory processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills (both written and oral).
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering a high standard of customer service in a regulatory environment.
  • A sound understanding of Western Australian Planning related legislation.

This position is a Level 7/8, Inside Workforce Agreement and attract a salary range of $86,621.56 – $100,858.55 gross per annum plus superannuation and fantastic benefits.

Planning Officer

The City’s Development Services Business Unit has an exciting opportunity for 2 x Planning Officers to join the team. Reporting to the Senior Planning Officer for all aspects of work associated with the processing of various statutory planning correspondence, enquiries, proposals, and decisions within the Business Unit’s area of responsibility.

To be considered for this role, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in Town Planning, or a related discipline.
  • High level of knowledge and understanding of the principles and practise of statutory Town Planning in a local government
  • Excellent communication and the ability to negotiate at high levels.
  • Sound knowledge of the relevant legislation and statutory

This position is a Level 6/7, Inside Workforce Agreement and attract a salary range of $76,789.39 – $91,181.54 gross per annum plus superannuation and fantastic benefits.
