Medical Receptionist

A privately owned and dynamic general surgery specialist practice is currently seeking a full time medical receptionist. We are a friendly team dedicated to the highest level of patient care and healthcare delivery. 

The successful candidate will receive remuneration above award rates (depending on level of experience) with flexible and negotiable leave entitlements. Opportunities to learn and expand your experience and knowledge are available and encouraged. 

Applicants must be available for flexible working hours, Monday to Friday with some early morning starts and late afternoon finishes. A minimum of one years’ experience as a medical secretary or receptionist is required. Applicants need to be vaccinated for COVID -19 as per the public health orders. 

It is desirable that the successful applicant is professional and curious with a high level of attention to detail. Our new team member will join us in being friendly and outgoing with a passion to help others.  This role will involve assisting patients (many of whom come from culturally diverse backgrounds)  both in person and on the phone, supporting the surgeon, as well as various administrative tasks. The successful applicant must be able to work well within a team and independently and be able to take direction from senior staff.  

Skills & Experience 

  • Prior medical reception or secretary experience required – minimum one year 
  • Prior experience with Genie is desirable but not essential. Onsite training will be provided
  • Works well within a team and independently
  • Works well under pressure in a busy, fast paced environment
  • Reliable, efficient, adaptable with attention to detail
  • Professional phone manner with excellent communication skills
  • Professional presentation
  • Able to adapt to changes in public health orders

Responsibilities & Duties 

Including, but not limited to: 

  • Travel between 3 locations; Fairfield, Campbelltown and Brighton-Le-Sands
  • Flexible with working hours
  • Greeting patients in person and over the phone
  • Ensure office environment is safe and clean
  • General patient related admin duties such as scanning, faxing, emailing, entering details, billing, receipting, maintain patient files and other activities as required
  • Communication with patients and other health professionals regarding highly confidential and sensitive information within privacy guidelines
