The Role:

We currently have multiple Library Sunday Assistant opportunities available in several of our libraries. While you will be primarily based at one of these libraries, you may be occasionally asked to support other sites in delivering exceptional customer service.

We are looking for motivated individuals to deliver customer focused library services to agreed standards, maximising service quality and outcomes. Improving customer satisfaction and contributing to the council’s objectives and priorities. 

Welcoming customers and supporting their information and learning needs, signposting to the right resources, empowering customers with the skills to access relevant information. This role will also include re-shelving returned stock, sorting and arranging displays, and using trolleys and ladders where needed.

Maintaining and overseeing a safe, functional, and appealing environment within the library space, and working in partnership with volunteers and organisations and promoting the service to the wider community. 

About You:

You must be able to deliver a high-quality customer service, be flexible and embrace change. Excellent interpersonal and strong IT skills including an awareness of social media are also needed. We are looking for individuals willing to take on new challenges and initiatives, but also take responsibility for the library building and undertake core operational functions.

You will need to be flexible as there occasionally may be a need to work in various libraries depending on service needs.
