Job Description

The Role

a. Responsible for the skilful, timely and accurate collection of blood specimens from patients as requested by the clinician using any of the appropriate techniques listed below: – Venipuncture – Capillary collection – fingerstick or heelstick – Blood culture specimen collection b. Ensure timely and accurate collection of breath sample for the Urea Breath Test. c. Acquire knowledge and skills on Laboratory Information System and required IT systems. d. Assist in managing and inventoried supplies in the laboratory. e. Rotate duties between Hospitals as determined by Manager. f. Work alongside laboratory manager and colleagues to achieve total quality service and customer satisfaction. g. Maintain tidiness of workplace. h. Any other duties as assigned from time to time by management.

Key accountabilities

1. To attain minimum no. of draws set by management. 2. of mis-draw must be less than or equal to 2 per day. 3. Adhere to 2 patient identifiers at all times. 4. Correct usage of specimen tubes and label at all times. 5. Generate Inpatient/ Outpatient Statistics on timely manner. Inventorize supplies are sufficient and stocked at Par Level

Qualifications & Experience

a. Minimum GCE ‘N’ Level, State Enrolled Nurse, equivalent or higher nursing qualifications, or Medical Technology degree / diploma with Phlebotomist certificate. b. Preferably with experience in Phlebotomy via vaccutainer or syringe and needle venepuncture. c. Good interpersonal skills. d. Patient/ customer service orientated.

Additional Information

a. Covers 4 PLS sites for Phlebotomy. b. Covers flexible arrangements, public holidays and weekends. c. Provide Phlebotomy service for Inpatient, Outpatient Lab and Medical Clinics.
