Finance Assistant / Accounts Payable

Located in Victoria Park we are currently in a transition phase and are on a mission to expand and diversify our products and transport services. 

The role:

The position is within the Finance department, with 60% Accounts Payable and the remainder providing financial assistance to the Finance Manager. As an ideal applicant, you will have:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Have some experience in a similar role


Responsibilities of the position:

Accounts Payable 

  • Management of Accounts Payable inbox.
  • Data entry invoices for payment.
  • Downloading database files into system for AR or AP processing.
  • Supplier payments and monitoring controls, preparing cheques, EFT transfers. When required, resolve purchase orders, supplier contracts, invoices payment discrepancies and documentation in accordance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Journal expenses to accounts and cost centers by analysing invoice/expense record entries- GL account coding.
  • Preparing payment run batches for approval.
  • Verify supplier accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
  • Verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services.
  • Management of subsidiary expenses.

Finance

  • Work in an assistant role with the Finance Manager, assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly financial performance reporting.
  • Analysis of expense transactions to determine inconsistencies in accounts.
  • Passing of general journals when instructed by the Finance Manager.
  • Ensure that all queries are answered in a timely manner and dealt with correctly and efficiently.
  • Treasury function: management of banking accounts, term –deposit management.
  • Daily entry of banking and monthly reconciliation.
  • Fixed assets administration.
  • Provide additional support to the finance team as required.
  • Maintenance of procurement projects.
