Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns provides information and analysis of critical social justice, peace and
environmental issues and events for education and advocacy.
Maryknoll Lay Missioners recruits, sends and supports people to work with those at the margins for a more
just, compassionate and sustainable world in Africa, Asia and the Americas.

This Digital Marketing Consultant works simultaneously with two Catholic nonprofit organizations that are
part of the Maryknoll community: the Maryknoll Lay Missioners (MKLM) and Maryknoll Office for Global
Concerns (MOGC), participating in the strategy development and implementation of social media and
search engine optimization and marketing for each organization. In addition, the consultant also
participates in the strategy development and implementation of email communications and digital
marketing outreach/campaigns for MKLM.
The consultant works to maximize awareness of MKLM and MOGC, increase engagement on all digital
platforms, recruit individuals for justice advocacy and education, attract prospective lay missioners and
increase online fundraising.
This includes, but is not limited to, social media calendar/posts, improving search engine ranking,
developing and executing Google and Facebook ads, developing and executing email messages/campaigns,
and multi-channel digital marketing outreach/campaigns. Responsibilities also include tracking and
analyzing metrics to maximize ROI, and preparing regular reports.
The Digital Marketing Consultant responsibilities require exercising discretion and independent judgment
while carrying out major assignments for Maryknoll Lay Missioners and Maryknoll Office for Global
Concerns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be required.
A. Social Media
In collaboration with other team members, participate in the strategy, development,
implementation and analytic tracking of social media posts, stories and ads, primarily on Facebook.
a. Collaborate in development and execution of the social media calendar.
b. Create posts, videos, graphics and other content for social media outlets.
c. Post content on social medial accounts and manage online social media ads.
d. Track analytics and identify trends in social media and fine-tune as needed.
B. SEO – SEM / Website Strategies
In collaboration with other team members, participate in the strategy, development and
implementation of targeted website content for desired top SEO keywords.
a. Help determine MKLM and MOGC’s desired list of top SEO keywords.
b. Create and/or post compelling content specifically designed for top Google ranking in top SEO
keywords.
c. Create, post, track, and fine-tune Google ads to increase traffic to desired top keyword pages.
d. Track analytics and fine-tune as needed.
C. Email Communication
In collaboration with other team members, participate in the strategy, development and
implementation of MKLM’s email communication, particularly triggered email series, to increase
engagement and online giving.
a. Help develop and execute email schedule, with strategic, triggered messages to targeted
groups.
b. Compile and schedule email messages.
c. Track and identify trends in email analytics and online giving and fine-tune as needed.
D. Digital Marketing Outreach/Campaigns
Content Creation and Outreach/Campaign execution of 5 MKLM digital marketing campaigns (2
Content + 2 Fundraising + 1 Recruitment)
E. Administration
a. Attend strategy and project management meetings.
b. Prepare analytics reports (key performance indicators/metrics).
c. Digital Marketing Database: record and maintain up-to-date analytics.
SCOPE OF WORK
This position is not an employee but an independent contractor, who will receive a 1099 tax form and will
be responsible for paying all relevant taxes. As an independent contractor, the person is not entitled to
receive benefits that are given to employees.
