St. Catherine’s is located on the north shore of Long Island in Smithtown. The campus is comprised of a 296-bed not-for-profit community hospital; a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation care center; and a 60,000 square foot medical office building. Performs a variety of clerical functions on the Nursing Unit including, but not limited to, meeting, greeting, and orienting patients to floor. Answering questions from patients and/or family members or redirects to appropriate care team member for response. Transcribes orders; prepares pt. chart on admission; ensures that chart is maintained appropriately; dismantles chart upon discharge; prepares diet & census sheets; rewrites medex’ once a week; prepares venipuncture list; assists in coordinating and compiling statistics as needed. Assists the care team with the discharge process. Answers telephones in a professional manner; distributes mail. Performs other duties as requested.
High school graduate or GED equivalency required. Minimum of 1 year previous experience in a doctor’s office or health care facility. For E.R., previous experience must be in emergency department of an acute care hospital.
Must be computer literate and proficient in word processing. Medical terminology preferred.

Schedule: Part Time, With Weekend and Holiday rotation, Day shift, 7a-7p
