Business Development Manager

We have an exciting new opportunity for an exceptional Business Development Manager to lead a Waste Insights team and develop and deliver innovative solutions that reduce waste and increase recycling.

You will be working for an iconic and dynamic charity, providing first-class solutions to environmental challenges. For more than 60 years, they have campaigned for cleaner, greener places and delivered programmes aimed at encouraging organisations and individuals to reduce their environmental impact. Position: Waste Insights Manager (internal title)

Location: Wigan, London or remote (with the ability to travel into one of the offices as required).

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours (4 days or an alternative flexible working pattern will be considered)

Salary: £40,199 to 42,199 per annum

Contract: Fixed term contract for a period of between 6 to 9 months (secondments will be considered)

About the role:

As Business Development Manager you will be working with the Waste Insights team. You will work with local authorities, waste companies, housing providers and schools to deliver projects which help people reduce waste and increase recycling.

The portfolio of projects is extremely varied and the work is fast paced including engagement and communications campaigns, waste education in schools, consultancy support, and monitoring and evaluation services. The work of the team is increasingly focused on developing innovative solutions around recycling and waste prevention, grounded in local research and behavioural insights, alongside the charity’s award-winning Centre for Social Innovation.

About you:

We are looking for an individual with the ability to lead plans to develop innovative solutions to waste and recycling issues and secure new work by proactively marketing services.

As Business Development Manager you must be able to demonstrate an effective track record in identifying potential income-generating and funding sources, creating concepts, submitting proposals and winning bids and funds from local authorities (or equivalent).

You will need to be an effective project manager, have experience in generating and managing a budget of circa £550k per annum and have previously worked in the environmental/waste sector. A secondment from a complementary organisation will be considered.
