The Anesthesia Technician assists in the delivery of patient care by providing and maintaining equipment, and supplies necessary for the safe conduct of anesthesia. The Anesthesia Technician assists during patient procedures performed by the Anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetist staff. The Anesthesia Technician works under the supervision of The Senior Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist(s) (CRNA) and the Chief of the Department of Anesthesia providing technical support to the Anesthesiologist and CRNA staff.
Education/Qualifications:High school graduate. Technical training preferredExperience: Six months previous clinical experience in a health-related position such as a nursing assistant, laboratory assistant, or emergency medical personnel is preferred.Licensure/Certificates: Basic CPR Certification required within 6 months from date of hire.Skills: Lifting and positioning of patients. Normal reaching, handling, and fingering of equipment is necessary.Near visual acuity and color perception is requiredMust be fluent in the English language.Physical Requirements: On feet much of the day, considerable lifting, moving of heavy and awkward equipment.Must be able to lift and position patients.Normal reaching, handling, and fingering of equipment is required.Must be able to hear well. Because masks cover faces, lip reading alone would not allow adequate communication.Some supplies are stored at a height greater than 7 feet off the floor. The Anesthesia Technician must be capable of reaching them easily. This involves climbing a stepladder.Category I risk exposure as defined by OSHAExposure to chemicals that have been shown to cause cancer and birth defects.Exposure to sharp instruments and needles.On feet much of day
