Position Summary

Under direct supervision, processes payments, researches accounts and performs data entry and other related billing activities

Job Responsibilities

Composes and maintains billing and/or billing compliance associated correspondence. Determines proper account resolution and/or adjustment as needed.
Performs charge entry and/or payment posting within the practice management billing system as needed. Tracks and resolves issues on denied claims. Resubmits or appeals claims as required. Escalates more complex claim issues when necessary.
Obtains, reviews and updates patient demographic and insurance information within the practice management billing system.
Scans all relevant documentation into patients’ eMR record.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Experience

Approximately 1 year of physician billing, accounts receivable or collection experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrated knowledge of third party reimbursement.
