Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station and a 911 Receiving Hospital. It is the premiere health care organization for key areas such as Surgery, Cardiology, Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine, Renal and Mental Health Services.

Job Description

Register, open outpatient clinic visits
Update patients demographic information into system as necessary
Update patients insurance information into system as necessary
Assure the necessary forms are completed and signed if required) by patient
Verify patient insurance eligibility including but not limited to Medicaid, Medicare, Blue Cross, Commercial and Managed Care
Identify and re-direct out-of-plan HMO patients to Managed Care Department for authorizations for clinic visits as necessary
Refer patients to Cashier and/or Financial Counselor as necessary
Answer phones
Copy and/or scan all patients information into system as necessary

A four-year High School Diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of
satisfactory clerical experience.

Skills Requirement:

Must be computer literate. Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per
minute.
