Accounts Payable / Scale Operator Clerk

Position Summary:

  • Responsible for performing accounting tasks required to accurately process invoices for payment.
  • Also responsible for answering calls and greeting visitors in a courteous, professional manner.
  • Scale Operator weighs and verifies loads of produce crossing scale during production months

Essential Funtions , Responsibilities, or Job Dities:

  • Accounts payable – check and receive all packing slips, check all invoices and prepare purchase orders and requests for merchandise.
  • Prepare vouchers for payment, ensuring timely payments to avoid late charges or to meet discount deadlines.
  • Enter vouchers for payment on computer, file vouchers carefully and accurately, type P.O.s carefully and neatly.
  • ExtendAg Scale Operator – Ensures all produce is weighed properly and verifies grower, hauler and field information to ensure proper payments
  • Scanning and filing of Accounts Payable documents in an accurate and timely manner

Additional Responsibilities:

  • May require additional reporting tasks and assisting with Month End Close processes.
  • Overtime is required July – September.

Qualifications:

  • Communication skills, keyboarding (computer, calculator, and typewriter), using telephone and radio equipment.
  • Ability to operate multi line phone system. Ability to operate basic office machines. Use of jugement to plan, perform and make decisions.

Education:

  • High School/Technical school/Training or previous office experience.

Experience:

  • Preffered accounting background and spreadsheet experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Some pushing, pulling, standing, bending, walking and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Sitting, talking, hearing, climb & stoop, kneel or crouch.

Working Conditions:

  • Indoors, office work.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.

Safety Requirements:

  • Bump hat, hair net, eye protection, hearing protection when in production areas.
  • Safety glasses in some areas.

Accountability:

  • Decisions prioritizing duties and payment dates. Needs to determine importance of calls in order to direct them properly.
  • Mistakes could result in incorrect payment to vendors, negative company impressions from callers or visitors, or important messages not being delivered correctly in a timely manner.
