Who you are

You’re a curious and ambitious problem-solver who doesn’t just accept the status-quo. You have a sense of curiosity about all things business, understand the importance of accurate, up-to-date financial information to make business decisions, and you’re willing to take on transactional accounting activities as well as preparing accounts. Oh, and you also know your way around cloud accounting software, love a good spreadsheet, and you like discussing the latest efficiency hacks you’ve discovered over a drink on Friday afternoons.

You love getting to the core of an issue, and working out solutions, but aren’t afraid to ask questions either (it’s important to be aware of your limitations, right?). Most importantly, you’re detail and results-oriented, and are as good a communicator online as you are in person.

If preparing accounts for tax and compliance is your jam, but you haven’t worn the bookkeeping hat before, we’d still love to hear from you if you’re keen to learn (these are simple, but super important activities in our business). We’re more than happy to help offer training and development for the right person.

Your responsibilities:

Quarterly BAS preparation for review
Monthly/quarterly report preparation and cash flow forecasting
End of year accounts and tax returns (Initially you’ll just be responsible for preparation, but we’d love to train you up to be the person who reviews them soon)
Bookkeeping, including invoice processing, basic payroll, creditor payment preparation
Preparation of electronic documents for clients

You’ll have:

A curious nature when it comes to our clients’ businesses
A general sense of wonder about how the world works
Ability to solve problems or come up with solutions prior to coming to us
Demonstrable experience in preparing accounts (ideally 2 – 3 years’ experience)
Foundational skills in bookkeeping and payroll (if you’ve got bookkeeping experience, great, but this is a skill we can teach to the right person, as long as you understand what you’re doing)
Keen to help out with grad-level accounting and bookkeeping tasks (we all do some of this, we’re a start-up and we all roll up our sleeves and get stuff done)
A command of Xero (or you know your way around another similar program and are a speedy learner), and can manage a spreadsheet in your sleep
Aspirations to really make a difference when it comes to our clients’ businesses
Tech savvy and not daunted by learning new apps and systems and teaching them to others

You can choose to work in our Adelaide-based office, or at home (but we’d love you to be local and keen to work together as a team on Fridays so we can socialise, strategise and spend some time face to face).
