The Job We are looking for an editor to join our CNN Opinion team. CNN Opinion is a world-leading forum for insightful, illuminating and provocative points of view tied to the news. This fast-growing team works with outstanding thinkers, leaders, experts and authors to craft commentary that makes sense of life in the 21st century in all its aspects.

The Daily

Developing ideas for opinion pieces on key issues in the news and the social conversation, identifying potential writers, commissioning and editing their work, fact checking, writing headlines, identifying potential links and shepherding the work through the editing/vetting process

Producing opinion articles and selecting related photos, videos and graphic elements. Posting newly published pieces on CNN Opinion’s social media and working with CNN’s programming team to place pieces appropriately

Finding new ways to involve the community of CNN Digital readers in the Opinion section

Working cooperatively with the rest of the Opinion team, the larger CNN Digital operation and with all CNN other platforms, shows and units, including Standards & Practices, to maximize the quality and impact of commentary in the Opinion section

The Essentials

• Proven editing/reporting experience in print, online or in broadcast • Strong news judgment and lively interest in government, politics, business, culture, science and the arts

Must be capable of quickly reading and absorbing news developments from many sources and creatively conceptualizing ideas for opinion pieces, then working cooperatively with potential writers
